What to Bring

Here is a list of required items to bring for your waterfowl trip.

  •  Waterproof JacketLayering is the best advice we can give.  Our weather can go from clear to rainy or cold to comfortable.  October and November temperatures range from 32° to 70°, and December and January temperatures are from 30° to 45°.
  • Waders or Hip BootsWaders are recommended.  Keep in mind we hunt tidal estuaries, waterways and wetlands.  This means we can be in water six inches to four feet deep.  We have had times where hunters have to get out of the boat.
  • Waterfowl LicenseIn addition to a state small game hunting license, all duck and goose hunters 16 and over must also possess a federal migratory bird stamp, signed in ink across the front. Federal stamps can be purchased at selected license dealers, all post offices, all National Wildlife Refuges, by calling 1-800-STAMP24, or ordered online at www.duckstamps.fws.gov. State migratory bird validations and stamps can be purchased through license dealers.
  • 12 or 20 gauge ShotgunIf you shoot a pump or semi-auto, you must have a shell limiting plug installed, which limits your shell capacity to two shells in the magazine.
  • Shotgun AmmunitionTwo boxes is usually enough.  #4 – BB in 2 ¾” or 3” is good for ducks.  BBB is good for Canadian & Snow Geese.
